Potty Time...

Since we just got back from Storyland yesterday and it's raining out I decided today was a good day to declare PJ Day. I, too, feel like lounging around the house all day doing mostly nothing, not even venturing out for the much-needed groceries one is always lacking post vacation. After looking at the forecast for the next 10 days and seeing gray clouds and thunder bolts, I also decided that we were starting in on potty training today. Now or never!!! Cal has camp starting tomorrow for the rest of the week so at least he'll be out doing something and we can hunker down out of the rain and potty train! (hey that rhymes!) My game plan this time (since I'm experienced in this area now yet not quite a seasoned pro) is to put on undies only for the next 5 days except at nap and bed time. Starting tomorrow I'm going to pump Ben full of gatorade boxes - which I don't consider juice - and make him sit on the potty every 20 mins if necessary. Today we are easing into it. I told him that if he did REALLY good and went on the potty MOST of the time for peeing AND pooping that on Sunday I'd make him a big cake and he could have the neighborhood kids over to enjoy it with him. I haven't clued the neighbors into this yet, hopefully they're around and don't mind! But I figure who doesn't like some cake and ice cream now and then?! So far we've gone through 2 pairs of underwear today. Not soaking through or anything. He actually goes a drop or two and then says "Mommy! Look!", at which point I scoop him up and make a run for the potty. This is a work in progress....stay tuned!
