Halloween extravaganza!

Portsmouth does all holidays the day/night before so we went trick or treating last night - bizarre, I know. Cal got to wear his costume to preschool for some trick or treating around the classrooms at the high school too. Yet another year where we tortured the poor child with an awkward costume. If you recall last year he was a bunch of grapes- large balloons everywhere, hard to walk, etc - this year was no different. He loves it though. We started trick or treating around 5:45 and had to drag the child back kicking and screaming around 7:15pm. At each house we got the same "can I eat it?" after he got the candy! He was so wound up by the time we arrived home that we had trouble getting him to bed. Tonight we're off to the mall for another round of candy treats! Spooktacular. Ben actually went out last night for half an hour too. He stayed very quiet and seemed to be taking it all in since kids were everywhere! We didn't get quite the onslaught that I was expecting. The neighbors made it seem like there would be 100s...I've got tons of candy and toys leftover!

So they don't look as much alike as everyone might think. Ben jogged my memory of this pic of Cal when he crawled in the tunnel while we were playing this morning. He just happened to be wearing the yellow shirt so I threw the ghost toy in there and voila! same picture!

I couldn't resist

Lots of wind here brought a gazillion leaves down yesterday. I raked them all up while Cal was at a friend's house. Ben had fun exploring the yard and getting lost in the big pile every once in awhile. We're taking advantage of the very unfall-like weather we've been having lately!

It's been 2 1/2 months since my first post. I wrote it and then thought, really? is this such a good idea? I've decided it is. Recently, I've felt email overload and just can't keep up with the demands of cleaning the house (and fixing it up!), two children's social lives, and trying to keep in touch with everyone.
